What is a Donor-Advised Fund (DAF)?

A Donor-Advised Fund, or DAF, is a philanthropic giving vehicle hosted by a registered charity (KindLink Foundation). It allows individuals or organisations (DAF account holder) to establish a foundation account and instruct donations without having to register a charity themselves. This scheme can save cost and time while it is much more flexible and easy to manage than a regular registered nonprofit organisation.

Corporate and employee fundraising if one of the main ways businesses engage with local causes and their teams. It is the easiest way to gather your teams, do something fun and use the power of your friends, family, and colleagues to do something good. From running marathons to rowing and cycling challenges, it is an amazingly efficient way to collect donations and build the team spirit.

How to set up and use charity online fundraising and donations with KindLink

All nonprofits registered with KindLink can immediately start fundraising and accepting online donations. They have the ability to get a ‘Donate’ button for their website, an embeddable link or a hosted fundraising page (see below). In order to process those donations to the charity bank account, the charity administrator needs to upload and verify those details in the KindLink account.

Based on the 2008/09 baselines, the UK aims to do the following by 2020/2021: reduce absolute carbon emissions by 34%, reduce water consumption by 50%, reduce the weight of waste generated by 30%, recycle 75% of waste generated by weight. Companies are now working on their sustainability initiatives in different fields, from suppliers to the way the workplace is organised.

Some 20 million people volunteered in the UK in 2017/2018, according to our partner, the NCVO, with almost four in ten people doing so formally. That means that companies place more importance than ever on engaging with their employees through sourcing opportunities for them to volunteer. Employees, equally, have never been more interested in giving back to their communities.

Some 1.4 billion people are involved in the philanthropy sector every year. And there is true strength in numbers. But doesn’t that crowd strength start with those doing things on a personal level? Remember Archimedes' famous quote: Give me a lever long enough and a fulcrum on which to place it, and I shall move the world. And that brings me to what KindLink wants to do for the world in 2020 and throughout this decade.

Employees raised over £141 million in 2017/2018 through payroll giving in the UK. Enable your employees to support their chosen causes in the most tax-efficient way. By working with your accounting team and payroll giving agent, you can remove the friction and make giving to their favourite charities every month a seamless process for your team.

We have created a simple, easy-to-use, targeted solution for your team to use on the KindLink platform so that their generosity can have the maximum impact. See the details for the packages below:

While CSR has been a concept circulating the corporate and media environments for years, it remains, for many, a dense and painful process. Without a full team in place, building and then executing on a CSR strategy can prove impossible.

However, we believe that, with some guidance, any company can take their first steps towards building a social responsibility strategy, engaging their employees, attract new talent and make a difference in their community.

KindLink is excited to announce that we now support over 1,000 charities and nonprofit organizations with our free software, fundraising and impact reporting platform. We are grateful to be able to help these charitable organizations make the world a kinder place within the United Kingdom and internationally. KindLink was founded with the intention of bringing transparency and efficiency to the charity sector, and we will continue to connect businesses and charities through their kind work.
